Bronchogen: what the evidence says

At a glance

What it is: a synthetic tetrapeptide from V. Kh. Khavinson's "peptide bioregulator" program, sold as a bronchial bioregulator. Unknown Most papers give Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu ("AEDL") R3; one 2011 PubMed title gives Ala-Asp-Glu-Leu. R4 UNVERIFIED which sequence products on sale contain.

What the evidence says: no published human study tests the bronchitis or COPD use it is sold for. The only evidence for that use is two rat-model studies from one group R1, R2; DNA lab and modeling work is listed in Study details. R3, R4

Biggest risks: unknown. No human safety data were found. Unknown Gray-market products add quality risks.

About the evidence (developer-led): most of this literature comes from V. Kh. Khavinson's St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology and allied Russian, Ukrainian and Georgian groups. Many papers are short, Russian-language, and not independently repeated. Read the findings as the developers' own reports. The rat COPD studies come from the Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University pulmonology institute, without Khavinson listed in the abstract author line. R1, R2

What is it?

Bronchogen is a 4-amino-acid peptide that the developers say acts on bronchial lining cells. R3 The proposed mechanism is direct binding to DNA. R3, R4 That idea is the developers' hypothesis and has not been confirmed independently. Unknown Related page: Chonluten.

Does it work?

Is it safe?

Gray-market "research use only" Bronchogen: extra risks

Unknown contents. Vials or capsules sold online as "research use only" are not made under drug-quality rules, so identity, strength and sterility are unknown. This is a general caution; we have not found independent testing data for this product. Unknown Vendor claims about effects in people are marketing, not evidence. Unknown

What we don't know

Is it legal?

US: not FDA-approved; no application found in Drugs@FDA data (Oct 25, 2026). R6 Russia: UNVERIFIED whether registered as a medicine in GRLS or sold only as a dietary supplement. EU, UK, Japan, China: UNVERIFIED not checked against EMA, MHRA, PMDA or NMPA. WADA: not named on the 2026 Prohibited List R5; S0 (non-approved substances) would apply if it holds no current approval anywhere, which is UNVERIFIED.
