Eloralintide: what the evidence says
At a glance
What it is: Eli Lilly's once-weekly, selective amylin-receptor agonist peptide for obesity. R1
What the evidence says: in a 48-week phase 2 trial (n = 263), weight fell 9% to 20% depending on dose vs 0.4% on placebo. R2, R3 Lilly has started several phase 3 trials, including combinations with tirzepatide. R4, R5, R6
Biggest risks: nausea and fatigue, more common at higher starting doses. R2

About the evidence: one 48-week phase 2 trial in US adults without diabetes; phase 3 results are expected no earlier than 2028 (trial primary completion dates). R4, R5
What is it?
Amylin is a hormone released with insulin that slows stomach emptying and signals fullness. Eloralintide is a long-acting copy aimed only at amylin receptors. R1 Related pages: Cagrilintide, CagriSema, Petrelintide, Pramlintide, Tirzepatide.
Does it work?
- Human Phase 1, 12 weeks (n = 100): weight loss and pharmacokinetics supporting weekly dosing. R7
- Human Phase 2, 48 weeks (n = 263): −9% (lowest dose) to −20% (highest) vs −0.4% on placebo. R2
- Unknown Phase 3: ENLIGHTEN-1 and other trials are recruiting; no results yet. R4, R5, R6
- Unknown With tirzepatide: a phase 1 study is complete with results not yet published. R12
Is it safe?
- Human Nausea (up to 64% in one arm vs 14% placebo) and fatigue (up to 46% vs 12%). R2
- Unknown No long-term data.
Gray-market vials: extra risks
A gray-market vial has no quality control and no guarantee of identity, strength or sterility. We test retail vials blind under the Open Peptide Standard; see /tests/. A passing test covers one batch on one date and does not mean the compound is safe.
Is it legal?
- US: investigational only; not on FDA's 503A or 503B bulk-substance category lists and not on FDA's compounding safety-risk page. R9, R10, R11
- Sport: not named on WADA's 2026 list. R8
