Histrelin (Supprelin LA; Vantas discontinued): what the evidence says
At a glance
What it is: a synthetic 9-amino-acid GnRH analog released from a small implant placed under the skin of the upper arm. Approved as Supprelin LA (May 2007) for central precocious puberty in children. A version for prostate cancer (Vantas) was also approved but is now listed as discontinued. R1, R2, R3
What the evidence says: 馃煥 in a single-arm trial of 36 children with central precocious puberty, the implant kept puberty hormones suppressed. R4 In men with prostate cancer, testosterone stayed suppressed in long-term open-label use. R5
Biggest risks: implant-site reactions were very common (51.1%); the label also warns about an early hormone surge, implant breakage, psychiatric events, seizures, severe skin reactions and raised pressure in the skull. Prohibited in male athletes. R3, R6

Gray-market vials: extra risks
A gray-market vial has no quality control and no guarantee of identity, strength or sterility. We test retail vials blind under the Open Peptide Standard; see /tests/. A passing test covers one batch on one date and does not mean the compound is safe.
